SEVENTEEN families on Cikobia, off Vanuabalavu in the northern Lau Group, whose houses were either partly damaged or destroyed during Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston are still awaiting assistance to rebuild their homes.
Tui Cikobia Solomone Tayaga Mua said these families were either living with relatives or still in tents, which he said started to show wear and tear 18 months after the cyclone struck in February last year.
Mr Mua said some families on Cikobia received some assistance from Government’s Help for Homes initiative, but the materials that arrived were not enough to build complete houses.
