FIJI Airways Drua five eighth Peceli Nacebe has been ruled out for two months after sustaining and breaking his ankle during last week’s thumping of NSW Country at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
Fijian Drua head coach Senirusi Seruvakula said Nacebe would be having his surgery tomorrow.
Nacebe injured his ankle, just four minutes in to the first half of the game last week and was replaced by Kini Douglas.
“Nacebe is out for two months and there will be some changes in the team and it is disappointing that we are losing him early in the competition, we just hope that he will get well soon and will be with us during the final rounds if he is fit,” Seruvakula said.
The Nadroga flyer was instrumental in the Drua’s first two games making some very notable sound decisions for them in both attack and defence.
He is also considered as one of this season’s greatest find, in the playmaker’s role for Fiji.
Seruvakula said his absence would not affect the team’s combination.
“All the players are stepping up and all the players are equal. Any shoes could be filled by the players coming in.
“With Nacebe ruled out because of injury, players such as Douglas and Fiji 7s Rio gold medallist Kitione Taliga would most probably be given the nod for the flyhalf position.
“Taliga is coming in as a replacement because he has been camping with us. I will see how he trains this week and how he gels in with the team. I will confirm that on Thursday.”
