Kenya had been asking questions of the main contenders for a while and their close results of late was no fluke.

It’s a little painful to watch our own team fall to the Kenyans; however, we must applaud Kenya for a scintillating performance and their win was written on the wall, if not in Singapore, then elsewhere.

Now we must fear them, even more than traditional rivals as Kenya won’t mind adding the Rio gold to their list of long-distance gold medals in Rio. With that type of simple and strong running rugby, they are real contenders for Rio.

Fiji will no doubt bag the series but the way things are turning out, Rio is a real challenge and now, I do understand why Ben Ryan is doing all he can for Rio success.

The team’s got the right mentor, right manager, great captain, and an almost perfect team. This “almost” will surely be gone by the London stop and every sevens fan from around the globe will be cheering for Fiji, some loudly and some silently.

Just the way some of us are silently happy for Kenya despite them beating us!

Go Fiji.
