FLOTSAM AND JETSAM

n THE lengths which Fijians go to for the love of 7s rugby is unmatched.

Beachcomer was told that a family from the Western Division, who now reside outside Nausori, had an exciting experience on Hong Kong 7s finals night two Sundays ago.

While mum and the kids were making their way home from Laqere in Nasinu where they attended church, dad, who didn’t join them at the house of prayer, called to say that the power had gone out and if they could buy $10 credit from the nearest cash power agent at Wainibokasi.

Not wanting to lose out on Fiji’s games on TV and the Cup finals, mum and the kids diverted the taxi to Wainibokasi only to find the agent closed for the night. A passer-by said cash power was sold in Naililili in Rewa, a few kilometres further inland. To Naililili they went only to find the agent closed as well.

Again they were told by a passer-by that cash power was available at this time of the night in Toga, which is in the reverse direction from which they came.

They journeyed on and finally topped up their cash power for $10. But when they arrived home their taxi bill came to $30. Only in Fiji!
