Beachcomber was told of an incident on Vanua Levu involving a former 7s rugby player who recently returned home.
Beachcomber’s friend who was visiting from overseas met the player who introduced himself using his first name only.
Visitor politely shook his hands and didn’t take much notice, which disappointed the rugby player.
The player introduced himself again using his full name. Confused visitor only nodded with a smile. Not satisfied, the rugby player got his phone, went to Youtube and showed his past games, then introduced himself again as the famous player. Visitor was not sure how to react.
But any local would have said: “Suguraki.”
