Fiji rugby fans
MORE Fijians are expected to be at the HSBC London 7s to support the Vodafone National 7s team. The 8th Man, a group that rallies support for the team, has been working hard to ensure there is a strong vocal support for the team at Twickenham Stadium.
Loyal supporters
THE “Don”, Epeli Buliciri was in the house at the Paris 7s and so were his compatriots Alan and Denise Ricketts. The trio are perhaps Fiji’s No.1 supporters never missing a World Rugby 7s tournament in the past decade. They will be cheering hard at the Twickenham Stadium for Fiji this weekend.
Treat for ruggers
FIJI fans hosted the national team on Sunday (Paris time) evening bringing in donations of all sorts for the players. Vodafone 7s manager Ropate Kauvesi received the fans and members of the Fijian community. Players, however, were preparing for their departure late on Monday evening (Paris time).
Crowd favourite
FANS flocked to the Mercure Hotel in Paris to try and catch a glimpse of sevens players. The national team was clearly a crowd favourite. But the All Blacks with the likes of Sonny Bill Williams were also in demand.
Group of gladiators
THE Paris 7s final between Samoa and Fiji had to wait for a group of “gladiators” who ran across and around the field. With “Dutch” courage, the group of men ran the length of the field and when realising the security officials were no match ran around the field. A security officer attempted a diving tackle on one. Although he was successful, the stadium wall knocked both his and the gladiator’s breath away.
