POLICE are investigating the death of a woman believed to have been murdered at her home in Rifle Range, Lautoka on Friday night.

According to police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro, the 70-year-old victim lived alone and it appears that her home was ransacked before she was allegedly murdered.

“As investigators work to establish the motive and locate the suspect, the Fiji Police is appalled and angered by the cowardly act by someone who purposely targeted an elderly woman while she was in the comfort of her own home,” she said.

“All efforts are being made to arrest the person or persons responsible.”

A neighbour discovered the woman’s body around 11.30pm on Friday.

No suspects have been taken into custody and family members preferred not to talk to the media as investigations continue.
