FIJIAN craziness in rugby 7s will grip Hamilton this weekend as Fijians of all races turn up to support the Fiji Airways 7s team in the New Zealand 7s.

With the Gareth-Baber-coached team completing training yesterday, Fijians in Hamilton, New Zealand and across the world are expected to provide the lung power for the national side at the FMG Waikato Stadium.

The cheerleader will be Leini Sikivou, dubbed the “bu Kini” of Fijian rugby fans in Hamilton, and is the mother-in-law of former Fiji 7s rep, Pio Tuwai.

“We can’t wait to go to the ground,” she said while the team had its last run at the Marist Rugby Club grounds at Hamilton yesterday.

“We have prepared a hall, we have Fijian flags, we will have a feast, a get-together as Fijian community and later on will meet the team because we are excited that our national team is coming to Hamilton. We are proud to be Fijians.”

The Fiji village camp has been set up at the Heaphy Terrace Hall, a Methodist Church complex at Fairfield in Hamilton.

Among the fans cheering at the ground tomorrow will be Subba Raju formerly of Qeleloa, Nadi and his family.

“I came here in 2002 after 20 years of work at the Nadi Weather Office and I am proud to be a Fijian among people of the world when the Fiji team play at the Hamilton 7s tomorrow,” hr said.

Another fan, James Puamau, 7, missed school this week to watch the national 7s heroes.

He was spotted with a Fiji 7s jersey while the team trained yesterday.

“Jerry Tuwai is my hero and I want Fiji to win,” he said.
