A group of foreign ambassadors to Fiji visited Tavarua Island Resort over the weekend to take a look in the World Surf League (WSL) 2016 Fiji Pro.
The party included US Ambassador Judith B. Cefkin, New Zealand High Commissioner Phillip Talua, Australian High Commissioner Margaret Twomey, EU, British High Commissioner Roderick Drummond and their families.
The group embarked on a short boat journey to Cloudbreak, the world-renowned wave where the Fiji Pro is being held.
Though the competition is on hold due to unfavourable conditions, the delegation saw many of the professional surfers in action.
The likes of 11-time world champion Kelly Slater and reigning world champion Adriano de Souza were in the water fine-tuning their technique ahead of the resumption of the contest.
Back upon dry land at Ta
varua, the guests enjoyed a long lunch in the company of WSL officials and Tavarua Island Resort managing director Jon Roseman.
With the majority of the competitive field consisting of American and Australian surfers, there was an opportunity for the surfers to meet their respective ambassadors in the afternoon.
Forecasts suggest the Fiji Pro will resume with Round 3 on Wednesday, with the competition likely to continue on Thursday and Friday.
