Nadi aims to improve discipline

NADI will have to work on improving their discipline this week if they are to maintain their unbeaten run in the provincial rugby competition.

After the seventh round last weekend, Jack’s Nadi manager Jeff Tamata said they committed a lot of errors on the pitch and it’s something they would need to harness before they took on reigning Skipper Cup champions, Nadroga.

Nadi will this weekend in the eighth round of the competition visit the champions in their home ground at Lawaqa Park and Tamata said the game would be another big tussle for the men of the Sleeping Giant town.

“There were plenty of mistakes which we’re going to work on before we meet Nadroga in another big game next week at Lawaqa Park,” Tamata said.

He said apart from discipline, the jetsetters would also need to strengthen their mental toughness to not get distracted easily by their opponents who would try to provoke them into indiscipline.

It was indiscipline that caused them to trail 5-17 at the first 40 minutes.

Meanwhile he was also grateful to see how young Frederick Hicks did well after coming off the Flying Fijians camp for the Pacific Nation’s Cup. They have also been using most players that have come through their under 20 grade.

“This is part of our development plan, to use our players that came through the U20 and Fred really improved.”
