THE banter and the usual humour was witnessed at the parliamentary proceeding yesterday.

Following a heated discussion on the 2016-2017 National Budget and after every detailed question was raised on the budget allocation by the Opposition, an exasperated Tourism Minister Faiyaz Koya stood up and asked if members of the Opposition party may want to attend a workshop which he could arrange to explain the budget in detail.

“I offer free food, and free drinks … all welcome,” Mr Koya said.

Parliament Speaker Dr Jiko Luveni then quietly asked if the minister would also provide free bus fares for the members.
