APART from educating its corporate customers on new information technologies in the Fijian market, a locally-owned company introduced two IT solutions based on power protections and power back-up.
Datec (Fiji) Ltd general manager Ateen Kumar said those two products were namely surge protections and UPS systems.
“Surge protectors are for any business to protect themselves from a sudden fluctuation of power. These products prevent damage to their internal servers,” Mr Kumar said.
“The UPS has a battery attached to it. In the event of a power outage, the system can continue running with battery back-up attached. It depends on the battery attached to it, the system can last long in 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes or even an hour depending on the configurations.”
He said this product was used by companies that had an IT system because they wanted to ensure they had backup time.
For Datec, he said, they partnered with Eaton Power Quality and had been working with them for the past 20 years.
“Every year we invite our guests to our event and we tell them about our new products out there and any offering we have for them should they need. It is also an opportunity for them to have one-on-one discussions with us about their needs.
“We will make this event an annual one. This is for the various corporates that have dealt with us such as private and public entities.
Eaton Power Quality UPS sales manager Chris Westall said they spent the past two years developing a new range of products.
“So this is just to show them what’s new and what’s available to make cost savings for their business,” he said.
