Update: 6:16PM PRIME Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has asked Team Fiji athletes to the Rio Olympics to be the best that they can be.

Mr Bainimarama said it was not only on the day of competition but on every day leading up to it and on every day after.

“And by that, I don’t necessarily mean by winning gold – although that is what we are going to Rio for,” he said.

“I mean by maintaining high standards of conduct on and off the field. Conduct befitting the Fijian people and our proud nation.”

Mr Bainimarama was speaking at the launch of Team Fiji’s Olympic uniforms at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva today.

The Fiji Times partnered with Team Fiji in launching the uniforms.
