I read (FT 22/7) that the Government has allocated a $0.5 million incentive for athletes who win a medal at the Rio Olympics.
The medal of the Order of Fiji is good together with a bit of money.
Is there any way we can reward the unemployed medal winners by finding them a job.
That way they will be rewarded for life and in my opinion it’s a better reward.
Just like the sevens rugby players, right now we all look up to them — to many they are demigods.
However, when their playing days are over and the money they earned has gone, will they still be remembered?
Just look where are many of our previous sevens players, where are they now?
At one time they were our heroes, today they struggle to make ends meet.
So let’s find employment for those who win medals in Rio.
