RATU Navula Secondary School is the official winner of the Western Secondary Schools under-19 grade after beating Xavier College in the final at Nadovu Park, yesterday 25-12.

The Nadi school was dominant throughout the match, having led 15-3 at halftime.

With a further two tries in the second spell, the team defeated Xavier College despite a tough onslaught from the Ba-based school, whose points came from penalties.

Ratu Navula coach Waisea Narosa said although they finished the zone competition with a win, it was no easy feat.

“We thank the Lord for his guidance and protection. It wasn’t an easy game. We are grateful for the support of our families,” he said.

The win means Ratu Navula will meet Lomaivuna Secondary School in the national quarter-finals while Xavier will play Lelean Memorial School.

“For a number of years, Lomaivuna has been reaching the finals in the U19. We will work on our weaknesses before the next match,” he said.
