The water problem faced by the students, teachers and families at Nuku Secondary School has been ongoing since the school started some five years ago.
There has been some negotiations made with the landowners in regards to a new water catchment to be installed but disagreements on their side does not help either.
I urge the WAF if they could assist this remote school in conducting awareness to the villagers on the benefits consistent water supply will bring to the education of their children.
Most of these villagers have not seen the benefits of education and I hope WAF can elaborate more on that issue to solve the impasse.
I am also wondering whether water catchment comes under matters of public interest where Government can acquire certain piece of land without landowners consent as stipulated in the Constitution?
Can anyone help?
