WITH the Fiji secondary schools rugby competition heating up this weekend, Beachcomber was told of an incident where a colleague of Indian descent had his grandsons all excited to support their school which also reached the knockout stages.
Beachcomber’s colleague watched in amusement as his grandsons dressed in school colours and excitedly chatted about their school’s prospects.
The boys told their grandfather their school team was having a team talk and they wanted to head down to show support.
A little while later in the afternoon the boys returned, looking downcast.
“What happened boys, why the long face?” the colleague asked them.
“Oh grandpa, we went there, but the teachers and team leaders spoke in Fijian, we couldn’t understand a thing!”
To which beachcomber’s colleague said he had to reassure them and told them their support still counted.
