RAINY days in the Capital City did not deter parents and supporters turning out in numbers to witness Fiji’s future reps in the women dominated sport of netball showcase their talents at the National Netball Centre yesterday.
Organising committee president Elenoa Vadei said they were glad that parents continued to show their support as the games also went well despite the rain from day one and into the first half of day two before the sun started to show mercy on the young netters.
“We have been able to complete our games as schedule and the girls are enjoying their games,” Vadei said.
Vadei also commended the work done by teachers from outer islands and from Vanua Levu whose teams have shown tremendous competition when they played against teams in Viti Levu.
“We’ve always thought that players from out of Viti Levu would not do as well as those that have the advantage of facilities, but these teams like Kadavu and Cakudrove East have been doing well.”
Vadei said they were also grateful to the sponsors that provided tents for the young girls to keep them covered after their games.
Meanwhile after Day One on Tuesday, Vadei said the executive committee went around each of the district team camp to visit the students and the teachers.
“We’re really grateful that these districts came to participate, they have really shown their passion for the sports having to come out and not putting their preparation for the national primary schools IDC to waste and to have them bring teams for all grades, we’re grateful.”
The competition will end today.
