WHEN the Fiji 7s team won gold in Rio de Janeiro yesterday morning, beachcomber could almost hear the sound of all the beer bottles opened in to celebrate by supporters in Brazil and in Fiji.

Sadly for beachcomber, while many of his friends were suggesting the night will be celebrated with Fiji Gold, there were very few invites coming his way that promised a cold beer.

Instead many of the plans called for brown label, the only colour label that beachcomber did not want to celebrate with, having had his fill over the first two days of the 7s competition.

To his dismay
he was beside the tanoa yet again last night
crying tears of joy at Fiji’s win
