Tavua wins U17 trophy

TAVUA College are returning home with a trophy after defeating Natabua High School 1-0 in the under-17 grade final of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship in Ba.

Logistics manager Ajneel Singh said the feat was dedicated to the school’s outgoing principal Pradeep Chandra.

“We dedicate the win to all our parents and our outgoing principal. Basically we have been having camps for the past four days. They haven’t been home and the teachers have been with the children fulltime, cooking for them.

“The team had some training sessions and took advice from a few who were with us in the past. Our win is all because they have supported us through this,” he said.

He added the team and management had been confident of the title bid.

“Once we beat Xavier in the playoffs, we were very confident that we would get a positive outcome. One thing is that all our boys are local-based, there is no one that has come from another school. These players have been with us from Year Nine.

“They have all been our development players,” he said.
