It is a fact that at times authorities that have articles written about them in the Letters to the Editor column and proven to be true, the authority gets in touch with the writers’ and say that all correspondence about them should not be sent to the media but to the authority.
I have had that done to me but it didn’t stop me from writing.
It is a fact that if one writes to the authority concerned, it is often disregarded.
And if they don’t want people pointing out a fault of theirs and going to the media, then do the job right the first time, or accept the criticism or suggestion and say, “Heck, we have learnt something, let’s do it right the first time”.
Going to the media is more powerful.
So to all your contributions to the Letters to the Editor column, keep doing it.
Power to the media!
