Update: 11:13AM A MODERATE size earthquake with deep depth source location occurred in the Fiji region this morning.

The 5.0 magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 522 kilometres at 7:22am.

It occurred 137km east-northeast from Ono-i-Lau, 248km northwest from Nuku’alofa in Tonga and 492km southeast from Suva.

There was no threat to the Fiji region from the earthquake, according to the Mineral Resources Department’s Seismology Unit.
