Steps
1. Cut the board into a square
Use the circular saw to cut your board into a 7.5 x 7.5 inch square. Before cutting, measure and mark the wood to assure even cuts. You also should be able to get this larger board pre-cut at your local hardware store when you purchase the wood.
2. Measure and mark all lines
Measure and mark the center point of the board. This will later be where you drill your center hole. An easy way to find the center point is by drawing two diagonal lines that reach across from opposite corners, creating an “X”. Where the two lines meet in the middle is your centerpoint.
From each corner, measure 2.5 inches into the square along the longer X lines you’ve drawn. The end of each line is where you will drill your 5/8 inch holes.
Using the original X lines as your midpoint, draw 2 lines that are 3/4 inches apart from each other, extending from each corner, and 2.5 inches in length. Later on you will cut along these lines to make the grooves where the glasses slide into the holder.
3. Drill the centre hole
Drill the center hole for the wine bottle. Use the 20V MAX* Drill/Driver with Autosense technology in drill mode with the drill saw attached. Be sure to line up the bit with the center mark before drilling.
4. Drilling the four holes
Drill 4 holes using the 5/8 spade bit with the Autosense drill.
5. Cutting the grooves
To cut the channels, use the jigsaw and cut along the lines you marked, which should be 3/8 inches apart.
6. Sand using the mouse sander and fine grit sandpaper
7. Stain
Stain project with stain color and shade of your choice. Sand project again after staining. If you want to achieve a darker color, you can apply multiple coats of stain, we sure to sand between coats
8. Add monogram
Use screwdriver to attach brass monogram to the wooden holder.
