QVS thanksgiving service

STUDENTS, parents and formrer students of Queen Victoria School in Tailevu gathered at the Centenary Methodist Church in Suva yesterday for a thanksgiving service for their tremendous sporting achievements this year despite being displaced from their school by Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Former QVS student and Opposition Member Ro Kiniviliame Kiliraki said yesterday’s celebration was a thanksgiving service not only to their rugby teams but for all the students as well.

“Their achievements during the Coca-Cola Games was exceptionally good and in addition scooped four trophies in the Deans competition especially the most coveted under-18 Deans trophy was a feat that has surpassed any of QVS sporting feats in the past,” Ro Kiliraki said.

“What these boys have achieved definitely showed the true QVS character and culture which they inherit the first time they step in to QVS and they would not have done it without the support of the parents and the Old Boys Association.

He thanked the parents of the students for their loyalty to QVS despite their children being dispersed to other schools in Fiji.

Ro Kiliraki said parents played a vital role in the preparations of their school teams they kept the Victorian spirit burning inside them despite the extra responsibilities bestowed upon them by their sons’ adopted schools.

“So the thanksgiving service today was for the whole QVS family,” he said.
