Suva Old bridges

IT is no doubt that the bridge at the Sigatoka end of Nadi Town is critically important to commuters every day and our country’s economy.

I am not an engineer but one can physically notice the cracks on this old bridge, which is important also to everyone and tourists who will want to connect to the Denarau Marina and its internationally renowned hotels including all that travel to fly out and arrive at the Nadi International Airport for their respective destinations.

I would like to ask those at the Fiji Roads Authority to please prioritise the rebuilding and construction of a new bridge before it becomes too costly for our country.

We have all experienced what had happened to the Queens Rd Tamavua-i-Wai bridge at Lovonilase during its partial closure to cater for repairs early this year.

This old bridge is overly pounded 24/7 year-in-and-year-out with overloaded heavy vehicles and will soon no longer withstand what it was made for.

FRA, please get it done as soon as it is practicable.
