We will not allow the discrepancies in systems and processes to continue.

Local Government Minister Maciu Nalumisa said this of anomalies discovered in municipal councils in the country.

Speaking at the special administrators and CEOs forum yesterday, he said it came as no surprise when they began their first round of audits last week that they discovered discrepancies in systems and processes in municipal councils.

Mr Nalumisa said the audits were focused on rates and capital projects.

“I want to reiterate that councils must operate like a commercial entity.”

Mr Nalumisa said to maintain sustainable operations, councils needed vision and focus.
