Unity Fiji Party leader Savenaca Narube says Government’s 2022-2023 National Budget “will not save them”.
During a political party campaign meeting this week, Mr Narube claimed people did not trust the Government anymore and the indigenous and wider Fijian community wanted a change in administration.
“Whenever we have spoken around the country, the consensus was loud, people wanted a new government,” he claimed.
“They have lost trust in this Government. They don’t trust them to be fair to us, to be fiscally responsible and honest.”
The former Reserve Bank of Fiji governor said for him personally, “the most unforgivable thing the government has done is the abuse of rights and freedom”.
“Government has showed us that it does not respect anyone but itself. They trample on our rights and take us as fools in this country. “As the saying goes what goes around will come around very soon.
“The Government will announce the election budget in July and I expect this election budget to be their main weapon that this Government will use to win back the many voters that are leaving Fiji First.
“But the election budget will not be enough to save them. People have simply had enough.”
Questions sent to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama remain unanswered when this edition went to press.
