Sunbell tuna turns 50

Home of Sunbell Tuna PAFCO (Pacific Fishing Company) yesterday launched the 50th anniversary promotion of its signature product Sunbell Tuna (red label), commemorating it with weekly draws until April 30 of cash prizes and a final draw of cash and hampers.

“Initially, Sunbell was only Sunbell red,” said PAFCO chairman Mamhood Khan, who officially launched the promotion.

“That was the label we started off with but in the last two decades we’ve added a few more. They include Sunbell yellow label — this is yellowfin tuna chunks in oil, Sunbell yellow with chilli — which is the same Sunbell yellow with chilli added, and Sunbell white — this is yellowfin tuna in 100 per cent brine. And of course our latest addition to the Sunbell family was introduced to the market in late December — Sunbell curry.”

He thanked “management and staff, past and present who have stood behind the brand and made it what it is today,” and also loyal customers for their support.

“We’d also like to thank Punjas who are our distributors for their efforts last two decades in ensuring that our products reach our loyal customers.”

PAFCO chief executive officer Saiyad Raiyum said the company’s products have become synonymous with quality.

“In each of our cans, all customers can trust it’s pure tuna meat processed in a very hygienic way in the best possible quality standards being met,” Mr Raiyum said.

“We are fully operational with GMP practices, HACCP. We are U.S. FDA certified, Kosher certified, Halal certified, SQF certified, Dolphin-friendly certified so we go through a rigorous exercise to ensure that our plant operations are in the right quality standards,” Mr Raiyum said.

Customers can purchase any Sunbell products and write their name and phone contact at the back of the receipt and drop it into any bins in the participating supermarkets all around Fiji.

PAFCO also launched its revamped website yesterday.
