New board members for Fiji Cooperative Dairy

The board of directors for Fiji Cooperative Dairy Company Ltd (FCDCL) has appointed three new directors.

They are Joji Ramasima, Nilesh Lakhan, and Harvindar Singh.

Elections were conducted and overseen by the Fiji Elections Office at the company’s 9th annual general meeting, which was held at the Royal Event Centre in Nausori on January 31, the company said in a statement.

FCDCL chairman Uraia Waibuta urged more than 200 dairy farmers who attended the AGM to meet the local demand for milk.

“Farmers benefit from a set daily price for their milk, and locally, there is a huge potential market for milk,” Mr Waibuta said.

“FCDCL provides incentives, programs and advisory services, to help farmers increase their milk production to meet this demand and to create sustainable incomes for themselves and their families.”

The new directors join re-elected directors Martin Compain and Mahendar Singh and Government appointees, chairman Uraia Waibuta, Meli Tokaibai and Noa Koroi.

“The meeting highlights included the acceptance and passing of the 2022 accounts and lively discussion from member farmers followed by submissions made from the floor for the board to review,” the company stated.
