Telecom Fiji Ltd this week announced a donation of $5000 and entered a team for the 2024 Frank Hilton Organisation Charity Wheelbarrow Race.

The event is an annual fundraiser aimed at raising funds to provide detection and intervention services to children with disabilities in Fiji.

“We thank the Frank Hilton Organisation for allowing us to contribute to this very worthy cause,” said Telecom Fiji’s chief executive officer Charles Goundar.

“As a local company, we have a responsibility to give back to our community, especially during trying times where many Fijians are struggling financially. This event is one of the many ways in which Telecom gives back to the community, including supporting other charities which help Fijians across the country. We encourage other Fijians to also give if they can.”

Frank Hilton Organisation chief executive officer Sureni Perera said Telecom Fiji’s support not only helped raise vital funds but also “brings joy and excitement to our event, inspiring others in the community to participate and contribute to our cause.”

“We are deeply appreciative of Telecom Fiji’s continued support and generosity,” Ms Perera said.

“Team Telecom has won the award for Best Dressed Team for the past seven consecutive years.

“We sincerely hope they will bring on the same excitement and style to the race this year as well,” she said.

The Frank Hilton Organisation provides essential services including early detection and intervention for children with disabilities through a multidisciplinary, family-centered approach.

They also offer support and guidance to parents, helping them understand and manage their children’s special needs.

By empowering and building independence among children with disabilities, the organisation ensures these children can fully participate in society.
