Police: Secure livestock

POLICE have arrested 10 people and received 22 reports of livestock theft in the Western Division as of November 1.

They have urged people to secure their horses, cows, goats, roosters and sheep.

“We often record a spike in cases of livestock theft during the festive season and our officers are out in their communities reminding farmers of the need to secure their livestock to avoid becoming victims of theft,” said divisional police commander West Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surend Sami.

He said police had been able to recover a number of stolen livestock and returned them to their owners.

“Families make an honest living in raising their livestock and we don’t want them to be robbed of their hard work.”

SSP Sami said police would try their best to minimise the thefts this festive season.
