A LOCAL firm has been ordered to pay a former employee $12,158.55.

The Employment Relations Court upheld an Employment Tribunal decision which found that on October 7, 2013, Carpenters Fiji Limited had unjustifiably and unfairly terminated employee, Rattan Sami.

“The termination contract is drafted in such a way that my reading of it is that the employer can at any time terminate the contract by giving one month’s notice or pay in lieu, if one of the grounds for the termination is met,” said Justice Anjala Wati.
