The Sigatoka Magistrates Court has remanded a 24-year-old man in custody on two charges of murder and one charge of robbery.
Osea Mataitoga is alleged to have killed Sesha Reddy and his wife Mirdu Chandra on February 2 last year in a settlement near Lawai, Sigatoka.
Mr Mataitoga’s case will be called again for mention on Monday, September 26.
Fiji Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qilihio said at a media conference on Thursday that investigators were able to trace the digital footprints of a stolen mobile phone from the house of late Mr Reddy.
“The use of technology narrowed down to the suspect’s alleged involvement,” he said.
