Free Wi-Fi initiative launched

The Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum launched the free Wi-Fi initiative at the Lautoka market yesterday.

He said this initiative was announced in the 2022-2023 National Budget that all markets in Fiji would get free Wi-Fi service.

He said people would be able to access free internet services when visiting municipal markets. “If you come to the market, you can just connect to the Wi-Fi and it’s free,” he said.

“So, market vendors can connect to people, connect to suppliers, connect to people from whom they buy things from. He said the market was a meeting point for people.

“The reason we are targeting markets, is a hotspot where people get together, people interact with each other and it’s a melting pot also.

“We have tourists coming in, people coming in and it creates a much better information environment for all of them. Television screens have also been installed in the Lautoka market connected to the Walesi platform.
