$823K for nine FIU staff members

THE Fiji Intelligence Unit paid its nine permanent staff $823,000 in 2022, states its annual report that was tabled in Parliament last week.
This compares with a payment of $730,000 in 2021.
“As at the end of 2022, the FIU had nine permanent staff and three officers on secondment from partner agencies – one Fiji Police Force and two from Fiji Revenue and Customs Service,” states
the report.
“The staff costs capture the total remuneration paid to the employees of the Financial Intelligence Unit. The two – year salary freeze agreement with the union expired in 2022 resulting in resumption of rewards and recognition (R&R) program, reintroduction of merit bonuses and PWC market Adjustment resulted in higher staff cost in the current financial year.”
The Reserve Bank of Fiji continued to fund the operations of the FIU in 2022.
“The FIU’s total expenditure for 2022 was $910,000 compared with $781,000 in 2021.”
The full-time staff at the FIU in 2022 were the Director, Manager Intelligence Management, Manager Policy & Compliance, Manager IT Management, two Intelligence Analysts, Policy & Compliance Analyst, Senior Systems Analyst, Systems Analyst and Senior Secretary.
