THE Ministry of Lands & Mineral Resources doesn’t have a Business Continuity And Disaster Recovery Plan, reports the Auditor-General.

In her report to Parliament last week on the Ministry of Lands & Mineral Resources Crown Land Lease System (CLLS) IT Audit, Finau Seru Nagera said a disaster recovery plan (DRP) was a crucial tool for organisations to minimise the negative effects of a disaster on their operations, customers and reputation.

“It also plays a vital role in ensuring the continuity of critical business functions and processes during and after a disaster,” the report stated.

“Without these essential plans in place, there is a heightened risk of data loss, extended downtime in the event of system failures or disasters, potential compliance violations, financial losses and operational disruptions.”

The report recommended the ministry develop a disaster recovery plan and business continuity to mitigate risks, minimise disruptions and safeguard the organisation’s operations and data.

Ministry officials said they agreed with the recommendations.
