The Suva Magistrate’s Court has ordered the police prosecution unit to hand over a traffic offence case to the DPP to review evidence in the case.
Magistrate Seini Puamau made the decision last Thursday after the police prosecution failed to provide adequate information and evidence on how and why the accused lost control of his vehicle.
Sri Krishna Reddy, 55, who is charged with dangerous driving, had allegedly driven his vehicle into another on May 25 of last year, causing minor injuries to its occupants.
Mr Reddy, a first offender, pleaded guilty to the charge.
He told the court he was unable to remember details of that day, but after the accident, he realised a front tyre had come off his car.
Mr Reddy has been advised to follow up with the Legal Aid in case the matter goes to trial. The case has been adjourned to April 8.
