Police Constable Apimeleki Colamoto who is accused of assaulting a school student in the maritime zone appeared at the High Court in Suva yesterday .

Mr Colamoto appeared before Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull facing a count of act with intent to cause grievous harm.

The 21-year-old officer is alleged to have assaulted Vilikesa Bari on November 17 last year and his case was transferred from the Nausori Magistrate’s Court on December 6.

State prosecutor Unaisi Ratukalou told the court that due to the circumstances of the charge, the matter might be remitted to the lower court.

Mr Colamoto will be appearing before judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe on February 3.
