Lautoka will host the 2024 Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship, as announced yesterday during the launch at the Lautoka City Council Chambers.

Vodafone Senior Business Relationship Manager for the Western & Northern Region, Prashant Prasad, expressed pride in supporting the Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Nationals for the second consecutive year.

“As we launch this tournament, we look forward with great anticipation to the sensational games ahead. The road to victory will not be easy, but it is in facing challenges head-on that true champions are made.

“And you’re all champions! We are excited to witness the determination, skill and sportsmanship that each team will bring to the court in the west. With over 50 teams competing, this will be a showdown if anything! And we also welcome the new schools joining this year.

“To all the athletes participating, know that your hard work and dedication have brought you to this moment. Play with passion, respect and integrity,” Prasad said.

Lautoka City Council CEO Mohammed Anees Khan said they look forward to hosting the three days event.

“We look forward to hosting the event for the second year in Lautoka,” Khan said.

This year’s tournament will see 70 schools competing over three days, with more than 800 students participating.

Lautoka Muslim College will debut with their Under 19 boys’ team, while Ratu Kadavulevu School, Sacred Heart College, and Votualevu College will make their return to the competition.

The tournament will be held on August 29-31.
