Western schools compete for semi-final spots

NATABUA High School rugby teams are determined to elevate their performance in this year’s Deans rugby competition.

The West Secondary Schools Deans rugby quarterfinals will be held today at Prince Charles Park and Ratu Navula School grounds.

The Natabua U18 boys’ team, winners of the Lautoka zone and top finishers in Pool A, have secured a spot in the West Secondary School Deans Rugby semi-final.

They will await the result from Pool B, where Cuvu College and Ratu Navula will compete today.

The second-place finisher will face Natabua in the semi-final next week.

In Pool A, Ba Provincial and Ra High School will meet today to determine the runner-up, who will then face the winner of Pool B between Cuvu and Ratu Navula.

The Lautoka based school also have their Raluve U18 team qualified for the quarterfinals today alongside U15, U17 and U16 boys’ team.

School principal Virendra Sharma said they want to do better this year.

“We don’t want to talk big about winning but all we can say now is we want to do better.

“We are preparing all our teams well this year, every team wants to go in the competition and win but we want to show a good competitive rugby,” Sharma said.

“We thank the parents for their support.”

All the Raluve U16 and U18 matches will be hosted at Prince Charles Park ground one.
