BA women’s football coach Charlene Lockington is leading her team into the 2025 OFC Women’s Champions League in Tahiti with high hopes of making history for Fiji.

The tournament, set to take place in May, will feature the best women’s club sides in the Oceania region, competing for the prestigious title and the chance to qualify for the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, as well as the 2028 FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.

Ba Women’s FC has been drawn into Group A, alongside Henderson Eels FC from the Solomon Islands, Penama Tigers FC from Vanuatu, and Tupapa Maraerenga FC from the Cook Islands.

Coach Lockington shared her confidence as the team’s preparations ramp up.

“The senior players have really stepped up, taking responsibility for their fitness and readiness. We’re aiming to create history for Fiji in this tournament,” she said.

“The girls are fit, injury-free, and in great form. We recently defeated Suva in a preparation match, which has given us a lot of confidence going into the competition.”

A key highlight of the team’s lineup is the inclusion of four U16 players, who will play alongside the senior squad in this prestigious tournament, showcasing the future of women’s football in Fiji.

In addition to the hard work on the field, Coach Lockington revealed that the team has secured a new sponsor for their second uniform, with Rooster coming on board to support the team.
