PRIME Minister Rear Admiral (Retired) Voreqe Bainimarama reveals government has brought in a consultant who will look into strengthening the Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited operations.

PM Bainimarama said this during the presentation of the Mahogany Log Supply Licence to the Vugalei Landowners and Sawmillers Association in Waidra, Naitaisiri on Saturday.

He said apart from the consultant being brought in by government, the Mahogany Industry Development Decree also changed the way in which the mahogany industry operated today.

PM Bainimarama said the government launched the decree in 2011 to assist landowners’ participation in the mahogany logging process especially those with ample resources.

He encouraged landowners to communicate challenges and problems that they faced to government.
