Update: 4:23PM PRIME Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony of a $200million Amex Resources ironsand project export facility at Lautoka this afternoon.

The project is expected to employ 300 people and boost the Lautoka economy.

The ironsand mine is located at the Ba River Delta.

Amex Resources was granted a licence to mine 132 square kilometres at the mouth of the Ba River.

The mine has an expected project life of 20 years.
