Update: 12:42PM ALTHOUGH Fiji enjoys one of the lowest water tariffs in the region, Water Authority of Fiji’s chief executive officer Opetaia Ravai says this should not be seen as an opportunity to waste the precious resource.
Speaking at the World Water Day celebrations in Nadi yesterday, Mr Ravai emphasised the need to conserve water by storing and using rainwater for showers and sanitation use.
He said the governments 250 litre free water program would assist low income and poor families across the country.
In its 2015 Budget, the Government announced the provision of 91,250 litres of free water per year to all Fijian households with an annual income of less than $30,000.
This means that households that qualify would receive 250 litres of free water daily.
