Update: 3:45PM WITH the Fiji International Triathlon only two days away, the Denarau Corporation says the island will be experiencing a lot of activity and movements.
Corporate communications executive Leanne Edwards says people should be aware that there will be interruptions with traffic movement while
races are conducted.
On Friday June 5 from 11am to midday a course
familiarisation ride will be conducted from the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club
to Navo and back.
Police escorts will be with competitors and traffic control will
manage movement at the Denarau Bridge exit lane.
On June 6, there will be a total road closure from
8.30am to 9.30am from the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club to the main entrance
bure.
“During this time once athletes have passed the main
entrance bure, they will veer to one lane over the exit side of the bridge and
out of Denarau,” she said.
“Outgoing traffic will be diverted via Sikituru and come out
at the Narewa junction with incoming vice versa.
“Traffic will be let through in between bikes from the
Denarau Golf & Racquet Club to the main entrance bure if there is enough
distance between bikes and there is no hindrance to the race.”
On Sunday from 7.30am to 1pm, the long course race
will be held from the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club to Korovuto on the
outskirts of Nadi.
