MORE than 640 meetings have been arranged for people to make submissions on what they want included in the Government’s proposed five-year national development plan, says Attorney-General Aiyaz Saiyed-Khaiyum.

“We are getting very good feedback, a lot of people are pleased that we are going down to the grassroots level,” he said.

“Some people are talking about everyday issues like water problems. Some people are saying they want more field workers from the Agriculture Ministry going out to advise them on what crops are good.

“Overall, a lot of people are making suggestions in terms of how they see Fiji and where should Fiji be in terms of development.”

The A-G said the development plan would not only assist the current administration but also help subsequent governments plan better for the future. “It will help our multilateral partners and out donor agencies to know where they can specifically target aid, what year, when and how they can collaborate and partner with us.”

The last development plan was prior to the first coup in 1987.
