Update: 2:59PM NADI will be declared a city in 2017. This was announced by Local Government Minister Praveen Kumar Bala at the Special Administrators and CEOs forum in Nadi this morning.

While addressing heads of
municipalities from around the country Mr Kumar said it would be a proud moment for the thriving Western Division
metropolis.

“I have been advised by Nadi Town
Council special administrator Robin Ali that
most of the work has been done,” he said.

Mr Kumar made the announcement at the
three-day Local Government forum which is in progress at the Hexagon Hotel in
Nadi.

The forum ends on August 21.
