THE United States says it is engaged with Fiji in its bid to ensure the deadly coronavirus does not penetrate its borders.

US ambassador to Fiji Joseph Cella said his government was pleased with the way the Fijian Health Ministry and border control were handling the situation.

“Fijian authorities are using best practices and we are in active contact with them, they are using thermal imaging and guidance offered by the World Health Organization and CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention),” he said.

“So they are on top of it and we are engaged with them actively and regularly and there is engagement with them in the taskforce globally.”
