The Australian High Commission has expressed disappointment over the spread of disinformation regarding the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme.
In a statement, it clarified that the Australian Prime Minister has made no recent remarks about PALM, and that Australia’s 9 News network has not reported on any such statements.
The Commission reaffirmed that PALM workers make a vital economic contribution to Australia and enrich communities across the country.
It also reiterated Australia’s strong commitment to the program and the opportunities it provides for Fijians to gain valuable work experience and skills to support their communities.
Also, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade said the post claiming that the Australian Prime Minister, Hon. Anthony Albanese, has warned that the PALM Scheme would be suspended due to crimes committed by Fijians is fabricated and misleading.
