Australia has included the risk of methanol poisoning in its revised travel advisory for Fiji.
The advisory comes in the wake of four Australians, one American and two foreigners who are residing in Fiji being hospitalised after consumed a cocktail at the Warick Resort on Saturday night.
They are all admitted at the Lautoka hospital.
“Be alert to the potential risks around drink spiking and methanol poisoning through consuming alcoholic drinks,” said the Smart traveller advisory issued for Australians in Fiji.
“Get urgent medical help if you suspect drink spiking.”
No update has been provided this morning on the medical condition of the seven individuals.
